The Central City Water & Sewer Commission will receive sealed Bids for the construction of their Railroad Sewer Rehabilitation Project – 2nd Street to 9th Street Area until 2:30 p.m. local time, Monday, January 8, 2018 at the office of the Central City Water & Sewer Commission, 214 North First Street, Central City, Kentucky 42330, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud.

The work to be performed involves the replacement of nearly 3,000 LF of gravity sewer, generally running parallel to the Paducah & Louisville Railway from 2nd Street to 9th Street in Central City, Kentucky (Muhlenberg County).  The contract involves work to reduce inflow and infiltration using specific construction methods, including, but not limited to, pipe bursting and manhole replacement.  Bids will be received for a single prime Contract.  Bids shall be on a unit price basis.

Bids are to be addressed to Central City Water & Sewer Commission, P.O. Box 430 or 214 North First Street, Central City, Kentucky, 42330, and shall be marked “Sealed Bid – Railroad Sewer Rehabilitation Project.”  Bids are also to include on the outside, Bidder’s name and address and the Bid receipt date and time.  Bids shall be prepared in compliance with the requirements of the Instructions to Bidders.

Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office, which is McGhee Engineering, Inc., at P.O. Box 267, 202 South Ewing Street, Guthrie, Kentucky 42234 or by calling (270) 483-9985.  A $50.00 non-refundable charge will be required for each set of Bidding Documents (each set includes specifications and 24-inch by 36-inch drawings). Shipping and handling fees are included.  Overnight mailing of Bidding Documents will not be provided.  Bids will be accepted only from contractors holding approved bid forms.

“Section 746 of Title VII of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2017 (Division A – Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017) and subsequent statutes mandating domestic preference applies an American Iron and Steel requirement to this project. All listed iron and steel products used in this project must be produced in the United States. The term “iron and steel products” means the following products made primarily of iron or steel: lined or unlined pipes and fittings, manhole covers and other municipal castings, hydrants, tanks, flanges, pipe clamps and restraints, valves, structural steel, reinforced precast concrete, and construction materials.  The deminimis and minor components waiver apply to this contract.”
